Banned & de-indexed websites
If a website isn’t indexed in search engines, then there is usually a very good reason! Sometimes this can be due to poor technical SEO, but also it can be because it has been removed from the index by the search engines themselves.
If a website is a real legitimate website then it’s probably nothing to worry about, but if anything about the website sets alarm bells ringing, then you could be on to something more!
Websites which break the search engine webmaster guidelines aren’t links which you want pointing to your domain. These should be removed if possible and Disavowed at domain level.
Expert Tip
- To check if a website is banned in Google, run an advanced search operator at domain level; site:domain.com.
- It is possible that only specific parts of a website have been removed such as subdomains, or directories. This is often an issue with sites which offer managed platforms, such as WordPress.com
